Metrodata NATO NC3A BOA
Metrodata received notification that our Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) was awarded on Monday 20th August 2007, and it was completed and activated on 10th September 2007.
Metrodata's earliest work with NATO was in 1993 when we were involved in ATM Over Satcom Interoperability between:
- CELAR (France)
- DERA (UK)
- CECOM (USA)
More recently involvements included a deployable naval satcom system, where Metrodata provided our Access Processor backbone switch to the both the HSV and the Flag Ship of the US Navy's Commander Second Fleet / NATO Striking Atlantic as well as ground based terminals.
Working with leading Prime and Sub Contractors, Systems Integrators as well as Defense End Users has meant that we have built up a portfolio of products that enable optimised Defense networking, and allow interoperability of odd bitrates, interfaces and protocols.
Our niche is interfacing SATCOM, Crypto, Radio Relay Systems and Data Comms with IP, ATM, Fibre and Terrestrial Equipment.

Working with other defense manufacturers we spend a great deal of time working on proof of concepts systems as well as interfacing legacy equipment and networks to new technologies and products. Time is often critical in our work and we have a rapid prototyping capability often used by the Defense community.
LV2000 - LVDS Converter
Designed initially for delivering IP Services over Serial Satellite Links, the LV2000 came about because most satellite networks and satellite users already have serial satellite modems within their infrastructure. Rather than investing in IP Enabled Modems, the LV2000 allows you to re-use existing LVDS Satellite Modems such as the Comtech EFDATA CDM600 or the Radyne DMD20.
A key feature to the LV2000 is that it has a bit-switch selectable Automatic Crypto Re-sync option, allowing much faster re-sync capability. This Auto Re-sync overcomes the need for re-keying or powering down of Crypto Equipment, which means you can maintain a more efficient secure communications link.
With a maximum speed of 51.84Mbps the LV2000 easily supports the 20Mbps max rate of most satellite modems, and for interfacing to LVDS Crypto Equipment supports 52Mbps as a maximum date rate.
The LV2000 is truly a "plug and play" device requiring no configuration in most cases.
By utilizing Metrodata's Ethernet-to-Serial interface converters users can connect their Fast Ethernet equipment directly into a satellite network without requiring a separate router. This reduces the cost and complexity of the network whilst ensuring that performance and efficiency of the network is as high as possible.
Baseband Converter
Designed for connecting satcom, routers and radio systems to Encryption Equipment, the BC1x00 was developed to compliment new serial link and bulk cryptos using the LVDS/ EIA644 interface. This LVDS interface is not commonly found on Telecoms or Radio Systems and so the BC1x00 allows connectivity of LVDS Encryption Equipment to existing or incompatible HSSI devices.
With a maximum speed of 51.84Mbps the BC1x00 supports the same maximum rate of most LVDS Cryptos.

By utilizing Metrodata's BC1x00 Baseband Converters, customers can utilize new and existing/legacy equipment with these new fast LVDS Cryptos. Typically used to interface Cisco HSSI Routers to LVDS Cryptos, or LVDS Cryptos to HSSI Satcom Modems or HSSI Radio Relay Systems, the BC1x00 presents a major step in solving interoperability and interfacing issues within Defense networking.
As part of Metrodata’s strategy towards an Advanced Communications Node, there are also complimentary products available for IP to LVDS for connecting IP Routers and Switches directly to LVDS/EIA644 Cryptos.
