This Bulletin describes the procedure for upgrading Metrodata DSU Firmware by changing PROMS. The PROMS contain executable software, MIB’s and other tables and PGA contents loaded at Power-up time. PROM change can improve system performance by both hardware and software update. Note however, that some hardware is not contained in PGA and can therefore only be modified by returning the unit to the factory.
This technical bulletin provides instructions for installing the LM1100 card in Metrodata DSU products. It is available for the following products, and may even have been installed preshipping from Metrodata: FM4000, FM4200, FM4500, FM4800, FM4850, FM4900, FM4950

The X.21 female outlet is located on the rear panel of the DSU and labelled ‘DTE Port’. The Test plugs are inserted into the X.21 port before carrying out the appropriate tests.
