Metrodata Products
Metrodata products provide speed, interface and protocol conversion between incompatible network products. We can convert ATM to non-ATM, ATM to ATM (DS-3 to E3 etc.), ATM to fibre, ATM to serial, ATM to WAN, Ethernet to WAN, Ethernet to G.703, Ethernet to serial, Ethernet to fibre, serial to fibre, fibre to fibre and WAN to serial.
- Fixed Speeds supported include Nx64k, T1, E1, E2, E3, STS-1, DS-3/T3, E4 and OC-3/STM-1.
- Variable Rates supported between 8k and 155.52Mbits in 1Hz increments.
- Interface types supported include X.21, EIA530, V.35, HSSI, ECL, ASI, G.703, fibre and Ethernet.
- Protocols supported include IP, ATM, POS, ASI, Serial Data and Voice/Video.
Metrodata products eliminate interoperability problems between satellite, wireless and terrestrial networks.
If you have a problem interfacing any of the above then we will be able to help you.
How Can Metrodata Help You?
Metrodata provide concise information on our products mainly in the form of Datasheets, Product Manuals, Product Overviews, Application Notes and CDs. How do you find the product that you require?
Your requirement might be one of the following:
- Application Specific - You've got an existing or new network and have a problem.
- Conceptual - You've got an idea and have been searching on the Internet for more information.
- Physical Requirement - This would be where you have an exact, specific requirement to interface 2 or more products.
This is what Metrodata specialise in. We understand the problems that you are facing interconnecting all these networks and pieces of equipment.
Making Global Communications Wide Area Networking Easy
There is far too much talk about how Global Communications is complex - in the beginning we are only connecting 2 pieces of hardware together. This is typically how Metrodata begins to look at a Clients Problem or Application. We don't look at the Vendor or the Equipment Model, but simply at the Physical attributes and interfaces on the equipment.
The entire existing global infrastructure is built up of single pieces of hardware, some small and some very complex. These pieces of hardware we term "building blocks".
Global Communications Networks tend to be built of the following:
- Terrestrial Network - Copper, Fibre, ATM, SDH, PDH, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM
- Satellite Network - VSAT, VOIP, Voice, ISP Backbones, fibre Restoral
- Wireless Networks - Infra Red Laser, FSO, Microwave Radio, Broadband FWA
Each of these 3 networks has building blocks within it. In terrestrial networking alone there are hundreds of interconnectivity problems & issues simply between the building blocks themselves, without even considering incompatibilities between vendors as well.
Then imagine adding all the interconnecting problems of satellite and terrestrial networks together. Then imagine the problems connecting terrestrial to wireless, and wireless to satellite.
Understanding The "Building Blocks" Of Global Communications
The fundamental building blocks of Global Communications have different physical interfaces dependent on which vendor you use. With the current Telecoms climate, it is now, more than ever, important to have an understanding of how to connect different vendors equipment together. The short term benefit is cost savings, the long term benefit is that you are ready with a solution if one of your main vendors goes out of business or obsoletes a product you rely on.
Global Service Providers are taking over networks, which are built on different vendor/product platforms. These need to be integrated and not run separately. The ROI you get when purchasing this second network will not exist unless you can leverage economies of scale based on a single infrastructure. Why buy a company with the intention of integrating their network with yours, and then not go ahead with it. Talk to Metrodata. We might be able to help you, by simply supplying our EFC (Ethernet fibre Converter) as CPE to deliver Ethernet/IP Services over your fibre Network; to utilising the Metrodata PA1000 (POS to HSSI converter) to connect Extreme Networks/Juniper Networks/Foundry Networks POS (Packet Over Sonet) Equipment to a Cisco/Lucent/Nortel HSSI (High Speed Serial Interface) Network.
Metrodata products allow Space Shuttles to be controlled reliably, as well as providing high speed date rate (HDR) Over Satellite. From Narrow-band to broadband, from 8k to 155Mbits. We can provide you with the exact bandwidth you require. The superior serial interface products that we make, allow data rates in 1Hz increments so you don't have to fit applications to the network, but can seamlessly integrate the network and application.
Because they are so many ways of using Metrodata equipment, its impossible to think of all the applications that could use them. Metrodata look at the Global Infrastructure of Organisations and Corporations on a daily basis. If you have not heard of Metrodata, and are not aware what our products can do for you, this is where we try and explain .
