
The APX UNI interface modules enable connection to ATM services, either as network or switch ports, or are used as trunk ports for non-ATM applications. Each UNI modules provide a single ATM interface port, with the range being standards compliant and covering all standard Telecom data rates.
Each UNI module performs physical layer and ATM layer functions including framing, alarm processing and cell delineation. Flexible clocking options remove network synchronisation problems. Status LED's are provided to indicate that real traffic is passing across the ATM interface.Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface. Extensive statistics and status information are gathered at all layers and are available to the user interface as a diagnostic aid. OAM Alarm and Loopback functions are supported as per UNI 3.1
Additionally SNMP Traps may be generated to indicate Link Up/Down. These modules can be "Hot Swapped" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.
This module has the following features:
- 4 independant standards compliant T1 G.703 1.5Mbps interfaces with 100 ohm RJ45 connectors
- can be used in any AP chassis
- hot swap interface module, with configuration automatically loaded onto the replacement module

AP ATM UNI Interface Modules
The following ATM UNI interface modules are available for the AP platform:
- E1 UNI module - transport ATM over E1 G.703 2Mbps leased lines.
- E2 UNI module - - transport ATM over E2 G.703 8Mbps leased lines.
- E3 UNI module - transport ATM over E3 G.703 34Mbps leased lines.
- DS3 UNI module - transport ATM over DS3 G.703 45Mbps leased lines.
- OC-3/STM-1 UNI module - transport ATM over OC-3/STM-1 155Mbps fibre leased lines.
- Resilient OC-3/STM-1 UNI module - transport ATM over resilient OC-3/STM-1 155Mbps fibre leased lines.
- EIA530 UNI module - transport ATM over serial data services (of up to 20Mbps), e.g. satellite modems.
- HSSI UNI module - transport ATM over serial data services (of up to 110Mbps), e.g. satellite modems.
- ASI UNI module - transport ATM over broadcast video services (of up to 52Mbps), e.g. satellite modems and broadcast infrastructure.
