The APX Quad E1 CE Interface Module enables E1 G.703 2Mbps non-ATM equipment, such as a PBX, to be converged with other services using the AP multi-service platform.
This E1 CE module offers four protocol transparent, point to point connections to other E1 CE modules across an ATM network, leased line or transparent circuit (e.g. a satellite link).
This module performs adaptation of the incoming bit stream using unstructured AAL.1 to segment it into ATM cells. These ATM cells are transported across the AP infrastructure to the far end equipment. The far end AP, recovers the ATM cell stream, and from this re-assembles the E1 G.703 2Mbps bit stream, again using unstructured AAL.1. End to end timing is automatically maintained through the use of adaptive clocking and jitter attenuation.
Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface. Extensive statistics and status information are available to the user interface as a diagnostic aid. Additionally SNMP Traps may be generated to indicate Link Up/Down. These modules can be "Hot Swapped" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.
This module has the following features:
- 4 independant standards compliant E1 G.703 2Mbps interfaces with 120 ohm RJ45 connectors
- can be used in any AP chassis
- hot swap interface module, with configuration automatically loaded onto the replacement module
