The FC6X00 provides a new level of price/ performance in connecting switches and routers to carriers' single mode fibers. As the demands for on-site communication increase, certainly in the IP arena, fibre cable becomes the attractive solution in capacity, cost and quality. The FC6X00 is designed to need minimal installation in a desk-top or rack situation, and have integral power supply, and so are self-contained – just connect the fibre connectors and power and the FC6X00 transports data at any rate up to 622Mbit/s.
Two versions of the FC6X00 both cater for Singlemode fibre connection – the FC6000 for shorthaul and the FC6500 for longhaul.

Connecting a switch or router to single mode Fiber usually requires the use of an expensive single mode interface.
The FC6X00 offers a pair of dual SC interfaces, an LED for status checking, and needs no configuration. The FC6X00 is NOT protocol sensitve and operates automatically at the received data rate, which can be any speed up to 622Mbps. It requires NO configuration and has a single LED for status.
All Metrodata fibere converters are supplied as standard with SC connectors operating at a nominal wavelength of 1300nm. Other wavelengths are available on request, e.g. 850nm, 1550nm, 1550/1300 WDM. Other connectors are also available on request, e.g. ST, FC.
The FC6X00 range can easily be rackmounted in either a 1U two unit rackmount kit, 1U quad (4 x FC6X00) box or in a 6U eighteen unit rackmount kit.
The FC6000, and FC6500 are part a range of fiber conversion products from Metrodata offering solutions from 2Mbit/s up to 155Mbit/s for various electrical and fibre interfaces, to be extended to 622Mbit/s and WDM
