ATM services can be delivered at different network speeds from different service providers. In this example ATM at DS3 and E3 need to interconnect. The Metrodata ATM switch adapts both the line rates and any incompatibility between the physical network presentations.
Also shown, the connection of an on-site ATM switch with integral STM-1/OC3 155Mbit/s interface to an E3 34Mbit/s line - the traffic load from the ATM switch does not exceed 34Mbit/s yet, so rather than (expensively) change the Switch interface, rate adapt the ATM rates while converting the physical interfaces with the Metrodata ATM Switch.
The Switch supports full ATM QoS and Management capabilities.
