Most ASI satellite modems are used for the distribution of broadcast video.
However, ASI is also a very good interface for data solutions, as it is more scalable and flexible than any other satellite modem interface, e.g. it could operate at 4Mbps or 155Mbps!
ASI interfacing is supported on the Access Processor range which can converge several terrestrial applications onto a single high speed ASI satellite link, e.g. voice, data, LAN, encrypted data and video.
The Access Processor range can also be used to multicast high data rates [HDR] over satellite.
The Access Processor range can also be used to backhaul ASI over E3, DS-3 and OC-3 leased lines as well as fiber and ATM networks.
If you are using Radyne Comstream ASI satellite modems for data, we can backhaul ASI from the satellite modems, over a WAN link [e.g. leased line, fiber or ATM network] and then present the connection as HSSI to a router.
Metrodata also offer the HE1000 which can interface between Radyne Comstream ASI satellite modems and HSSI routers.
