The WC-Serial is a member of the MetroCONNECT family, offering LAN extension over Serial services. Support is offered for fractional (including Nx 64Kbps) X.21,V.35 and EIA-530 services up to 20Mbps. The WC-Serial supports auto negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X cross-over switching on two RJ45 LAN interfaces.

Link Loss Forwarding is supported, whereby faults on the uplink port will automatically force a link down on the user ports to indicate to the attached devices that there is a link problem.

The WC-Serial is completely 'plug-and-play' in operation, with no configuration necessary. The multi-standard Serial connector automatically adapts to whichever Serial standard (X.21,V.35 or EIA-530) is required, based purely on the interface cable type being used, selected typically from the Cisco ‘CAB-XXX-MT’ range for NTU connection. Such interface cables are readily available, and present standard interface connectors for each Serial interface type.

The WC-Serial is a high-quality device, featuring a robust metal casing and fully internal Power Supplies, connected via standard ‘IEC’ mains cables or high-quality locking DC connectors, as appropriate.The product can be used stand-alone, or shelf mounted (the product has non-slip rubber feet), or can optionally be rack-mounted using the RMK2R 1U, 19" rack-mount bracket.

The WC-Serial is available in a choice of 100-250 VAC, -48 VDC or 12v/24v integrated power supplies.

The WC-Serial can easily be rack mounted in either a 1U two unit rack mount kit , a 6U eighteen unit rack mount kit.
